CUGH Global Health Video Competition
Effective communication is vital to our ability to impact the pressing challenges the world is facing. Conveying messages visually is a powerful way to achieve this. In this spirit, we are pleased to announce that CUGH’s 12th annual Global Health Video Competition is now open to receive short video submissions in two categories: Global Health Challenges or High Impact Solutions.
Winners will be highlighted at our 16th annual conference in Atlanta, GA, February 20-23 , 2025. Anyone can submit a short (under 5 min. video, 1 per individual). We strongly encourage submissions from individuals working in low resource settings. Submissions from organizations are ineligible.
Submission Deadline: October 15th, 2024
Awards
There will be a winner and two honorable mentions in each submission category. All six videos from the winners and honorable mentions will be featured at the conference, on the CUGH website, and newsletter.
The top submission in each category will receive one (1) free registration to the conference.
Submission Categories
Global Health Challenges - illustrates a threat that impacts human or environmental wellbeing that may receive little attention
High Impact Programs – showcases a high impact program/initiative that can improve human wellbeing or environmental outcomes
How to submit
Submission deadline is October 15, 2024
Limit one (1) submission per person. CUGH membership is NOT required submit a video.
This competition is intended to encourage researchers, students and implementers in the field to tell their stories. Commercially produced, public service announcements will be disqualified.
All videos must be under five (5) minutes in length and be uploaded to either YouTube or Vimeo. They must be publicly available to view and must mention the CUGH 2025 video competition
Submissions must include a short description (1,000 characters maximum) abut the highlighted issue or innovation.
By submitting your video you are giving CUGH permission to share it publicly through the CUGH’s platforms.
Judging Criteria
Category: GLOBAL HEALTH CHALLENGES
Illustrates a global health or development challenge that receives little attention
Degree to which the video reveals solutions to address the challenge;
Clarity (is the message compelling & easy to understand)
Creative & technical strength of the video (is the video quality strong with effective audio and editing)
Category: HIGH IMPACT PROGRAMS THAT IMPROVE HUMAN WELL BEING AND/OR ENVIRONMENTAL OUTCOMES
How impactful is or could the program be?
Does the video include solutions?
Clarity of the message (is the message compelling & easy to understand)
Creative & technical strength of the video (is the video quality strong with effective audio and editing)
