Panel Proposals

Submission Closes: August 1st, 2024

Any CUGH Institutional Members can submit a panel proposal for consideration.

Panel sessions are comprised of ~3 or 4 speakers, a moderator, and last 90 minutes. These sessions can take on a number of formats including, but not limited to:

  • PowerPoint Presentations plus Audience Q&A

  • Experts' Discussion plus Audience Q&A​

  • Recommended: 5-7 minute presentation per speaker, live discussion amongst presenters, Q&A from the audience. Virtual sessions will not be accepted.

  • All presenters / moderators must pay the registration fee and attend the conference in-person. Virtual attendance is not possible.

Important Dates and Deadlines

  • August 1st, 2024 - Submissions close

  • September 30th, 2024 - Proposals status announced

  • October 10th, 2024 - Proposals invited for development must RSVP by this date to hold a session slot on the agenda. No exceptions. 

Proposals Must Fit within One of the Following 6 Tracks/Subthemes

Please be prepared to select a primary and secondary track:

  1. Non-Communicable Diseases, Health Systems, Public Health, Primary and Surgical Care

  2. The Social Determinants of Health

  3. Environmental Determinants of Health, Planetary Health, One Health, Environmental Health, Climate Change, Biodiversity Crisis, Pollution

  4. Communicable Diseases, Pandemic Prevention, Detection and Response, Emerging Infectious Diseases

  5. Research, Education, Translation and Implementation Science, Bridging Research to Policy, Innovation and Research

  6. Governance, Political Determinants of Health, Diplomacy, Law, Anti-Corruption, Human Rights, Strengthening Public Institutions

Proposal Guidelines

  • One (1) proposal per person. All proposals are reviewed by the Scientific Planning Advisory Committee (SPAC) and selections made by the conference Executive Planning Committee and Local Organizing Committee.

  • Each proposal submitter must be a CUGH Institutional Member.

  • While proposal authors/submitters must be CUGH members, proposed speakers, moderators, facilitators do not have to be CUGH members.

  • Submitters must propose panels with diversity in their speaker lists (representation of gender, geography, institutions, disciplines, etc.)

  • All panels accepted will be assigned time slots. Each slot is 90 minutes (includes time for audience Q&A).

  • Panel developers are responsible for ensuring that panel speakers and moderators are able to fund their costs for registration, travel and lodging and attend in person. Virtual attendance wil not be possible.

Review / Selection Process

  • Proposals are vetted by a review panel of 70+ members (SPAC). Each proposal is reviewed by a minimum of 4 reviewers. 

  • CUGH 2025 Executive Planning Committee and Local Organizing Committee determines the final selection, taking into consideration strong diversity of speakers within the individual panels, and in the agenda overall (discipline, geography, gender, institutional representation,  etc.).

Status Announcements

Status announcements will be emailed to the proposal author on or about September 30th, 2024. Proposal authors who are invited to develop the proposed symposium must RSVP by October 10th, 2024 with all of the following information and documents. Accepted panel authors must collect the following information from their panel speakers to submit to CUGH.

  • Session Title (with any updates in place)

  • 100 word Session Description (with any updates in place)

  • Speaker list (with any updates in place)

  • Speaker bios for all speakers (up to 150 words)

  • Speaker Headshots

  • Speaker email addresses

  • (CME) Conflict of Interest Disclosure forms signed by all speakers and the moderator(s)
    Forms will be sent to the organizers of the panels selected for the conference program.


If the submitting author may be out of email range between September 30th - October 25th, 2024, please designate a colleague to receive the status email and provide that person's email address on the proposal form accordingly. Invitations that are not responded to with all required information by October 25th, 2024 will be automatically retracted and the slot will be offered to another panel organizer on a waiting list. No exceptions.
